General Installation Instructions NOTE: We suggest a minimum 3" space between your interior door and the storm door and a maximum space of 6". This presents the interior door handle from hitting the storm door handle. Specific instructions are included with your door at time of purchase. Instructions can also be downloaded from the Knowledge Warehouse. Step 1: Storm & Screen doors allow you to install the hinges on either the left or right side of entry, Decide which way you'd like your door to open and position the door accordingly. Step 2: Install the rain cap at the top of the door against your home's brickmold. Step 3: Attach the hinge-side Z-bar to the side of the door. Use a hacksaw to cut the Z-bar to length from the bottom. Step 4: Place door in the opening. Attach the hinge-size Z-bar to the brickmold. Secure the rain cap. Step 5: Window installation varies by door model. Refer to your door's installation manual for complete window installation instruction. Step 6: Cut the latch-size Z-bar to length. Attach to brickmold. Step 7: Assemble and install the handle set onto the door. Step 8: Attach the sweep. Step 9: Install the top and/or bottom closers. Adjust closer speed.
